Bojan Bogdanović buries game-winner No. 2 for the Utah Jazz
In his first year with the Utah Jazz, Bojan Bogdanović continues to play a massive role, coming through in the clutch for his second game-winning shot.
What an emotional roller coaster last night was! The Utah Jazz came through for a massive win over the Houston Rockets, thanks to the clutch play from none other than Bojan Bogdanović, who has shined in late-game situations in the past.
Bogdanović hit a buzzer-beating three-pointer against the Bucks earlier this season, and hit a buzzer-beating three-pointer against the Rockets last night. The last time a player had hit two buzzer-beating, game-winning three’s in a single season was Khris Middleton in 2014-15.
The Jazz were down by two with just 1.6 seconds left after P.J. Tucker hit a three-pointer for the lead. Bogdanović hit the three to win the game, but Head Coach Quin Snyder deserves a lot of credit for drawing up a beautiful play for Bogey to get a look.
It took some time, but the Jazz were able to use Rudy Gobert as a decoy, having him slip to the basket which opened a quick look for Bogdanović. To Houston’s credit, they still defended it very well; Bogey just hit an incredible shot.
This was really a game that makes you feel blessed to have a guy like Bogdanović. He struggled for most of the night, but hit two fourth quarter three’s that boosted the Jazz to a very important win.
The win kept Utah in fourth place in the Western Conference, and tied up the season-series between these two clubs. Seeding is going to be huge for Utah, so wins like this mean a lot in the long run.
In past seasons, the Jazz have really struggled in late-game situations. This season has been different, as Bojan Bogdanović and Donovan Mitchell have turned into closers for this team. The last two games are a perfect example for that statement.
You see why the Jazz signed Bogdanović more and more each day. He’s been a perfect secondary option offensively, putting up 20.9 points per contest. His spacing has been incredible and he takes pressure off of the two All-Stars
While the game-winner was incredible, the Jazz do still have a lot of work to do in order to reach their true potential. They didn’t play great last night. If they can put together a full 48-minute performance, they’re going to be very hard to beat. It can’t come in spurts.
Bojan Bogdanović and the Utah Jazz are back in action tonight, taking on the Dallas Mavericks on the second night of a back-to-back. Let’s hope this game doesn’t come down to the last second; I still have yet to recover from last night’s thrill!
