Utah Jazz debate series: 3 reasons Mitchell should be traded

2. It would add to the haul of draft picks, giving Utah ultimate flexibility

Speaking of draft picks, the Jazz have already accumulated five this off-season by trading Rudy Gobert and Royce O’Neale, and if they decide to move on from Donovan Mitchell, it’s likely they could acquire at least another five, plus ones that would come in the subsequent moves of trading the likes of Mike Conley and Bojan Bogdanovic. From this point, the Jazz can add plenty of talent throughout the next few NBA Draft’s, or on the other hand, they have the option of taking a few top tier talents, and then re-evaluating their situation, and potentially trading away some of those picks to add more NBA level talent to their squad.

Given Danny Ainge’s demands, it’s unlikely that Utah let Mitchell go for less than five first-round draft picks, and if they can move some of their other talented players for picks, there’s a chance that over the next five seasons, the Jazz have over ten first-round picks, on top of their own, which gives them an insane haul that’s rarely ever seen.

Given what Danny Ainge was able to do in Boston by assembling the cores of Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Rajon Rondo and Ray Allen, as well as the current core of Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, it’s safe to say that there’s few better in the league when it comes to maximizing your assets. Simply put, the Jazz may have a long road to being successful again, but with Danny Ainge at the helm, all of the potential draft picks they could acquire in a Mitchell trade, it just makes too much sense to not make a deal before the 2022 season begins.

Utah Jazz</a> have been dealing with a crazy off-season, and after dealing Rudy Gobert for an incredible haul, the team seems to be on the verge of trading away Donovan Mitchell too, but the uncertainty in recent days surrounding this idea is growing larger. There&#8217;s a handful of teams interested in the services of No. 45, but unfortunately, there&#8217;s a good chance at this point that Danny Ainge is pricing all those teams out of the ability to acquire a 24 PPG scorer and 3-time All-Star.</p> <p>Because of the astounding haul the Jazz received for Gobert, many believe that the deal for Mitchell should top that, but given what an unprecedented haul that would be, there&#8217;s a good chance he starts the 2022 season in Utah. For a number of reasons, this just makes no sense, and at the end of the day, Utah may just have to settle for a similar deal to the Gobert one, instead of looking to get back a historic haul for a great, but not All-NBA caliber player.</p> <p>Ultimately, it seems that Mitchell&#8217;s time in Salt Lake City is coming to an end, and for these three reasons, this may actually be a good thing for the future of a Utah Jazz franchise that is desperate for a team that can make a deep run through the NBA playoffs.&nbsp;</p><!—pageview_candidate—><hr id="pagebreak"><div id="attachment_89546" class="wp-caption alignnone"> <a href=https://thejnotes.com/2022/08/13/utah-jazz-debate-series-3-reasons-why-utah-should-trade-donovan-mitchell/3/"https://thejnotes.com/wp-content/uploads/imagn-images/2017/07/18685806.jpeg">
