Don’t get me wrong, I love Joe Ingles and Chris Johnson. However, if the team you follow is relying on the two of them to provide big minutes on the wing, your team is severely lacking depth at the position. The return of Alec Burks will help, but if the Jazz want to compete in the years to come, they still need more help behind Gordon Hayward and Rodney Hood.
French phenom Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot could be a great, long-term component to the team’s success.
After failing to get significant playing time from Olympique Antibes in France, the six-foot-seven, 195-pound Luwawu took his game to Mega Leks of the Adriatic League and has come to life. In 25 games with KK Mega this season, Luwawu averaged 14.7 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.8 steals per contest and helped the team capture the Serbian Cup.
His shot is a work in progress, but he did manage to hit 38 percent of his 5.6 three-point attempts per game and continues to develop his stroke.
The real draw with Luwawu is his athleticism. He plays above the rim and, if he could build strength and begin to exhibit good habits and strong effort defensively, he has the potential to be a plus defender in the Association.
