John Stockton’s son, David Stockton, is on the move once again

Former Utah Jazz player and son of Jazz icon John Stockton, David Stockon is once again on the move.

David Stockon may not be the icon in the NBA that his father, John Stockon, was, but that doesn’t mean that David isn’t carving out his own path for his pro career. The younger Stockton had a brief stint with the Jazz in 2018, but since then has largely been bouncing around the G League and various international leagues.

He most recently played in Puerto Rico with the Baloncesto Superior Nacional, before playing in Germany’s ProA league, with the National Basketball League in Australia and the HT Premijer Liga out of Croatia coming before that.

While in Puerto Rico most recently, he played for the Cangrejeros de Santurce, which is owned by Puerto Rican megastar, Bad Bunny. During Stockton’s stint with the club, he put up 19 points, 6.6 assists, and 3.3 rebounds, all while shooting 49% from the floor, and 42% from three.

They went 22-21 on the year, with Stockton playing in 24 of those games, many of which were victories. Prior to his stint in Puerto Rico, Stockton was a member of Team USA and helped get the team qualified for the current FIBA World Cup tournament.

Now, Stockton is back in the G League playing for the notable G League Ignite squad. The announcement was made by Marc Spears (via Sports Illustrated) recently, saying;

NBA G League Ignite announced the addition of five veteran players to its roster for the 2023-24 NBA G League season. The signees include 2022-23 Ignite players John Jenkins and Eric Mika, NBA G League veterans Jeremy Pargo and David Stockton, and newcomer Admon Gilder.

Stockton will likely take over as the starting point guard unless Landon Johnson or Dink Pate can take his role from him.

And considering what happens with the Utah Jazz, it isn’t the craziest idea to think that the team could be keeping an eye on him this year, especially with the roster being one sneeze away from being shredded via trades. Collin Sexton, Jordan Clarkson, Talen Horton-Tucker, and Kris Dunn could all be gone by the trade deadline and if that ends up being the case, the Jazz may be looking for a point guard.
